Apimondia 2019 – Montreal

As you may know Apimondia 2019, the international congress of beekeepers, is coming up this September in Montreal.

If you are not familiar with it, Apimondia is a big deal, held in cities around the world every two years. This year it is in beautiful downtown Montreal at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal Convention Center. Approximately 10,000 beekeepers, bee scientists and beekeeping tradespeople are expected to attend.

We are considering a group registration to save money, if done before the early-bird group deadline. We need at least 10 members who agree to register early. This would be registration for the Congress only, Sun Sept 8-Thurs Sept 12. The cost to each member would be $300 (presumably plus HST/QST), a substantial saving of over $200 compared to paying individually at the door.

Participants check in the afternoon of Sunday Sept 8 and view exhibitions and the extensive trade show. There is an opening ceremony in the early evening. From Monday Sep 9-Thurs Sept 12 each day begins early with a keynote speaker followed by choice of multiple presentations in several rooms. Most days go til 5:30. Thurs ends a little earlier and attendees return after a meal break for the closing ceremony.

Some clarifications:
People wanting extras such as evening workshops or tours would need to arrange--and pay for--those extras themselves.

For transportation, accommodation, meals, etc., members will have to make their own arrangements.

Our deadline for collecting registration fees will be well in advance of Apimondia's early deadline, likely late February or the beginning of March.
